HUE Hillcrest (Real Estate & Development Graduation Capstone Project)

With 395 residences and a thoughtfully curated mix of community-driven retail, including a shared creative work quarter, a lifestyle & wellness space, and the beloved Rite Aid, HUE is more than a development — HUE is a bold statement of a place where every individual, every story, and every hue come together to form something truly remarkable.
Chollas Grove (Master-planned Redevelopment Project at the 2025 NAIOP San Diego University Challenge)
Rooted in resilience and shaped by community, Chollas Grove reimagines a grocery-anchored retail center in San Diego’s Mid-City into a walkable, mixed-use neighborhood that prioritizes attainable homeownership, cultural continuity, and long-term value. Through a carefully phased strategy, the project preserves high-performing retail while introducing 180 for-sale townhomes, neighborhood-serving retail, and new public green space—allowing the site to evolve without disrupting existing cash flow. Inspired by local history, from Rolando Park’s iconic pedestrian catwalks to Mid-City’s citrus groves, Chollas Grove is not just a redevelopment, but a place designed to help families plant roots, build equity, and grow together.
A design-focused proposal for a state-of-the-art urban infill, mixed-use redevelopment project in Hillcrest, San Diego, to address housing needs, support multimodal transportation, and enhance the local economy with strategic commercial uses. Led by human-centered and climate-resilient placemaking values, with in-depth considerations for the lifestyles and culture inherent to Hillcrest.
